Welcome to Rockabilly Run 2008

The Rockabilly Run’s annual car show and music festivals’ debut was the summer of 2006.
The idea behind ‘The Run’ is not original, but inspired by the culture and ‘scene’ of the young rockabilly kats and kittens all over the world and their demand for social events centered around the interests of rockabilly music, classic cars, and the love for a long-but-not-so-gone-era.

Lady J, the shows original organizer and promoter, moved to North Eastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) in 2001 from the west coast.  She found herself driving 2-4 hours from NEPA to get a good ‘rockabilly fix’.  With an understanding of Scranton and the Pocono’s new found passions for welcoming ideas, cultures and art - she made it a point to expose this region to the wacky sub-culture of ‘rockabillies’.

In the most recent decade, all-day car shows similar to The Rockabilly Run have been popping up all along the east coast.   Most popular are The Professor’s HOTROD HOEDOWN in Philadelphia (www.hotrodhoedown.com) and The Road Agents in Connecticut.  Other shows not to be missed are Scarry Larry’s Jalopy Showdown in York Spring, PA. The Rumblers Nomads and New York shows and The Magnetos Car Club show in Quakertown.   This list could really go on and on.  So with all these shows happening each year, why not have one in NEPA too!?

In 2008, The Rockabilly Run will be celebrating three years.  Doing it a little different this year; we are pleased to announce the partnership with The Flying Aces Motorcycle club and the use of their grounds.  The Flying Aces have been around since the early 50’s.. so they certainly fit into our mid-century lust.  We got camping, a bandshell, bar-b-que pit, and plenty of grassland for our hot-rods and motorcycles (just be sure that Teddy don’t burn down the forest with his 30 foot flames).

The Rockabilly Run is not sponsored by 1 car club, but with the help of many, the show has been able to really get off the ground.  We welcome all clubs and encourage clubs to join in on the car awarding and other events.  Special thanks go out to: The Nimrodz of Lancaster and The Ball Busters of Wilkes-Barre\Scranton.  And of course – The Professor and HotRod Scott – who are the wacky crazy M.C. characters and the backbone of The Rockabilly Run’s creation.  And… THANKS TO YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT

CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YA’LL IN JUNE!
